Luis Ceja

Hi, my name is Luis Ceja. I am a 17 year old dancer from Dallas, TX. I currently attend Booker T Washington HSPVA. I hope to study dance in college with double major. Either studying statistics, economics or public policy. My interest in politics has been with me for a very long time. I remember staying up and watching the historic election of our first African-American president. It was a watershed moment that I will remember my whole life. I think I can bring a unique perspective. I grew up in a small town of about 4,000 before moving to the city. A small town where the politics is both very different from that of the city but also in disagreement with what I’ve grown to believe. Being in such heavy minority taught me both to argue my points well and to understand those who saw things differently. As many were my good friends. Overall I believe that rhetoric tends to cloud actual discussion about policy the very thing government does that impacts us. I hope to shift the focus towards the policies that our government creates and not the soundbites we constantly hear on the news and online.
